Jenny has worked at The Lullaby Trust for 18 years, including 5 as CEO. She is part of the Pregnancy and Baby Charity Network, collaborating with 25 charities to reduce infant and maternal mortality. Jenny is on the Core Group of the National Child Mortality Database and co-authored the 2022 Sudden and Unexpected Death in Childhood report. She contributes to baby product safety through panels at the Office for Product and Safety Standards and British Standards Institute. Jenny has co-authored resources with the NHS, Public Health England, UNICEF, and more. In 2023, she won the International Award for Distinguished Educator.

Ellen is a qualified children’s nurse and specialist community public health nurse who has worked in public health roles since 2017. Ellen joined The Lullaby Trust team in January 2024. Ellen leads on the professionals training work that The Lullaby Trust provides, as well as engaging with and working with professional and partnership organisations. Ellen also assists in developing and reviewing expert infection prevention, safer sleep and other baby safety guidance.

Anna has worked for 16 years in Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) prevention, starting in New Zealand with a charity promoting safer sleep. She completed a PhD at the University of Bristol in 2016, funded by The Lullaby Trust, on decision-making in families at increased risk of SIDS. Her research has informed risk reduction campaigns. In 2018, she received a Launching Fellowship to explore intervention design. Now a Research Fellow, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, she develops and tests new ways to improve infant sleep safety.

Helen is Professor of Anthropology at Durham University and Director of the Durham Infancy & Sleep Centre, an academic research unit studying parent-baby sleep behaviour. She has authored over 120 publications on infant care. Helen co-founded Basis (the Baby Sleep Info Source) in 2012, and has served as Chair of our Grants Committee since 2016. She was an elected board member of ISPID (International Society for the Study and Prevention of Infant Deaths) and Associate Editor of Sleep Health, the journal of the National Sleep Foundation. In 2018 she received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for her research and outreach in infant sleep.

Dan Devitt is an independent consultant with over 20 years’ experience working on Public Health services for Babies, Children and Young People and Safeguarding. With a speciality in supporting improvement in Child Death Review Systems, he has a passion for working with local health and social care and education partnerships to understand how they can better meet the needs of babies, children, young people, parents, carers and families.

Joanna is a Consultant Community Paediatrician in Birmingham, working with SUDI and SIDS families since 2006. She helped establish the original multi-agency SUDI training at Warwick University. Her 2015 PhD evaluated the Joint Agency Investigation of SUDI, influencing the 2016 Kennedy guidance. Her research focuses on improving child safeguarding, preventing SUDI, supporting families with recurrent SUDI, and addressing child protection concerns related to mortality. Joanna is the Designated Doctor for Child Death in Birmingham and Solihull, leads the local SUDI service, and chairs child death review groups both locally and internationally.
