What is the Baby Check app?

If your baby is under six months of age, you can use the Baby Check app to find out if they need to see a health professional.

The app includes 17 simple checks you can do if your baby is showing signs of illness. Each check tests for a different symptom and, when completed, the app will let you know if you if your baby needs to see a health professional, giving you peace of mind in your pocket.

Frequently asked questions

It can sometimes be difficult to tell how unwell your baby is.

Use our Baby Check app to see whether your baby needs to see a health professional, and if they need to be seen urgently.

You know your baby best and whether a sign or symptom is normal for them. When you notice something unusual, use our Baby Check app to see if your baby’s symptoms are a sign of illness. The app includes 17 simple checks and will tell you if your baby needs to see a health professional.

The app was developed from a leaflet created by The Lullaby Trust, a team at The University of Cambridge and Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and the resulting study can be foundhere.

The app was revised in 2024 by the EASIER team, based at The University of Plymouth, in collaboration with health professionals, parents and carers. Read more about how the app was developed.
