Become a befriender

Our befrienders are parents or close relatives who have experienced the sudden or unexpected death of a baby or young child. They provide support to families after their own bereavement.

If you’ve applied for a specific role, we’ll take a look at your application and a member of our team will get in touch.  

If you’ve filled out the form to be added to our bank of volunteers, we’ll get in touch when we have opportunities you can apply for. 

We value any time you can give. You might volunteer for just two hours a week or at one-off events, or you may give more of your time. It really depends on your circumstances and what role is right for you. 

Yes, you can apply for any role you’re interested in. However, some roles, such as our befriender role, may require specific experiences or skills.  

You can also contact our team to discuss your interests and roles which may be a good match for you. 

Yes. You will always receive some training or help. The amount you receive and how it’s delivered will depend on your role.

Yes, you can apply for and carry out multiple roles. This means you may be contacted by more than one person after you make your initial enquiry.

Currently, none of our volunteering roles require references or a DBS check. We will always make it clear on the description of a volunteering role if these are needed.
