Dear Jennie, Susanne and all of the Matilda Mae letter writers,

As you link up on the first anniversary of Matilda Mae’s death, we want to say thank you to all of you for your support in raising awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and The Lullaby Trust in memory of Matilda Mae.

Our charity began when a little baby boy called Martin died suddenly and for over 40 years we have supported many bereaved families and funded extensive research that has led to a significant reduction in the number of babies dying suddenly and unexpectedly each year. But sadly 5 babies a week are still dying from SIDS.

Every day we are inspired by families, like Jennie and David’s, their friends and their communities who come together to support each other when a baby dies. Out of grief and sadness we see families move mountains in memory of their children, raising awareness, supporting other bereaved families and funding research to find out why their baby died.

Collectively we are in a stronger position to find the cause of SIDS and we thank you all for this.

Rest in peace Matilda Mae.

With best wishes from everyone at The Lullaby Trust
