We have invested £12 million in research on sudden death of babies and toddlers and continue to support new research.
Over the last 40 years, the research we have funded has helped us to identify why, when and where babies and toddlers may be at risk of sudden and unexpected death, making a major contribution to reducing sudden infant death by more than 80%.
However, while great strides have been made, SIDS has not gone away. This is why The Lullaby Trust worked on the GAPS (Global Action and Prioritisation of Sudden Infant Death) project with SIDS charities across the world to collect data from professionals in 20 countries and identify the most important areas for research over the next 10 years to reduce sudden infant death.
