Running a Safer Sleep Week campaign in your area is an effective way to raise awareness of SIDS and equip parents with information on how they can reduce the risk. Set up a Safer Sleep Week 2022 committee and plan your activities now! We have a range of resources to help you with your campaign and free publications, which are available to order from our shop.
Spread the word
The aim of Safer Sleep Week is to reach as many parents as possible with our safer sleep advice, but we need your help! Simply sharing our posts on Facebook and Twitter using our hashtag #SaferSleepWeek and sharing our free online Safer Sleep resources can help us to achieve this. During last year’s campaign we reached millions of people on social media alone. Ask your local authority to join the campaign and order our Safer Sleep Week leaflets for new parents and anyone involved in the care of a baby.
We are only able to continue to ensure that families and health professionals receive our vital safer sleep advice with the support of our amazing fundraisers. Below are a few ideas for how you can help this Safer Sleep Week:
Safer Sleep Display
Create a display of our safer sleep materials in your local health or childcare setting or other workplace and pop a collection box nearby so that passers-by can donate easily. Download a digital display pack (these will be available in February) or visit our shop to purchase publications. Email email@example.com or call 020 7802 3200 to request a collection box. Alternatively you can set up a virtual pot by creating an online Just Giving page.
Hold a virtual coffee morning
Organise a coffee morning using a video calling platform such as Zoom or Google Hangouts and ask for donations to attend. You could post your guests a selection of safer sleep leaflets to thank them for joining or even play some of our safer sleep videos during the call.
Spot the risk game
Print out a large version of our Spot the Risk game or post the image on social media and ask for donations to play. Offer a small prize such as a sweet to those that get all the answers right!
Whether you’re working from home or able to be in your workplace or school, have a dress-down day with a difference! Ask for donations for everyone to wear their pyjamas or onesies for a day. You can set up a Just Giving page to collect donations.
