Training overview

This engaging and practical course is designed for professionals who work with families and want to feel more confident in having effective, compassionate conversations about safer sleep and reducing the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Whether you are in health, early years, social care, or another family-facing role, this training will guide you on how to approach these important discussions at the right time, in the right way.

You’ll explore how to recognise and make the most of reachable moments, those key opportunities where parents and caregivers are most receptive to information. The course also helps you understand your role and boundaries in these conversations, and what support you can offer

Through practical guidance and real-world examples, you’ll learn how to identify both verbal and non-verbal cues from families, navigate sensitive topics, and ensure your messages are heard and understood. You’ll also be introduced to the latest leaflets and resources that can support your conversations, with guidance on how and when to use them.
