Hoekom ons bestaan
We keep babies safe and grieving families supported. Giving families a safer start to life, and creating a supportive space for anyone whose baby or infant has died suddenly or unexpectedly.
As our counterpart, the Scottish Cot Death Trust, celebrate their milestone 40th anniversary, we’ve begun conversations about how we might protect their vital work for the future. Like many charities, the Scottish Cot Death Trust is facing financial challenges, and together we must always keep our shared purpose at the heart of every decision: saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families.
Both of our charities share the same unwavering goals, and we are exploring how joining forces could strengthen and safeguard the Scottish Cot Death Trust’s work for generations to come, to ensure this vital work continues in Scotland.
As part of these discussions, we are exploring the possibility of the Scottish Cot Death Trust’s work transferring to The Lullaby Trust. Should this happen, our commitment is to carry forward their mission. We are committed to maintaining a lasting and visible presence in Scotland, preserving a strong, authentic and meaningful Scottish identity.
In the short term, The Lullaby Trust will be offering bereavement support for families in Scotland, ensuring no family faces grieving their baby alone. The Lullaby Trust will use our existing support network, while longer-term arrangements in Scotland are explored.
Imaginably, you may have a lot of questions about the future and what this could all mean. We are still at the early stages of discussions, but we will endeavour to answer as many questions as possible, as we work through this process. We are about to start diligently exploring every aspect of one another’s work and figuring out what is right for both communities.
Throughout this process, please know that your voice will remain at the heart of every decision we make together. Every step we take will be guided by the needs of the families we exist to serve.
We keep babies safe and grieving families supported. Giving families a safer start to life, and creating a supportive space for anyone whose baby or infant has died suddenly or unexpectedly.
The Lullaby Trust began with one grandmother's love for her grandson, baby Martin in 1970. We have become an incredible force for change.
We offer a supportive and confidential space for anyone affected by the sudden or unexpected death of a baby or young child. We are with you in your grief, however you need us.
We exist to keep babies safe and to keep grieving families supported, as no family should face grieving for their baby alone.
